Frequently Asked Questions
The answer to this is unique to each client. Our clinicians work with clients (and parents in the case of minor clients) early in treatment to set therapy goals, and treatment typically ends when the client (and/or parents) reports that they are satisfied with their progress toward meeting those goals.
In order to help ensure your confidentiality and privacy, and to allow treatment related decisions to remain between you and your therapist, we have opted to not accept insurance. Our licensed clinicians charge between $100 and $150 dollars per a 50 minute session, and the fee to work with our counseling interns is $60 per session. You can contact each clinician directly to learn more about their fees.
Although we do not accept insurance, our clinicians can provide a detailed receipt that clients can submit to their insurance carrier if they choose to request reimbursement. We cannot guarantee that your specific insurance carrier will reimburse for services, and recommend you contact them ahead of time to check on out-of-network behavioral health benefits if you are interested in pursuing this option.
We are able to accept payment via cash (for the exact session fee), check or credit/debit card. Credit cards associated with Flex Spending or Health Savings Accounts can also be accepted.
People come to counseling for a variety of reasons. There is really not a bad time or reason to seek counseling. However, some signs that counseling might be needed include experiencing a certain behavior as inhibiting optimal functioning in different contexts such as work, school, or social settings, interfering with the ability to complete necessary daily tasks, or disrupting relationships with oneself or others.
No one counselor can be the best fit for every client. We all have different personalities and different ways of conducting our sessions. Being a wise consumer of counseling services involves asking questions of a potential counselor. Consider asking about the counselor’s training and clinical experience, their therapeutic approach, how often they work with clients with concerns similar to yours, and their availability for scheduling. As you ask these questions, you may get a feel for the counselor’s personality, how they work with clients, and whether or not they may be a good fit for you.
Whenever someone asks about working with a Christian counselor, we highlight the importance of working with an ethical counselor. A well-trained, ethical counselor is able to effectively work with clients from a variety of faith backgrounds, including those who don’t hold to any specific faith tradition. Our skilled clinicians are highly competent in working with clients who hold a variety of worldviews and belief systems. However, we also understand that some individuals desire to work with a clinician who shares a similar worldview and, therefore, working with a clinician who is also a Christian is very important. If this describes you, we have many staff members who would be a good fit. If this is important to you, please share this during your intake.
If you know which counselor you would like to schedule with, please contact them directly. You can find contact information by clicking on the clinician’s photo. If you are unsure which provider would be the best fit for your situation, please contact us at 913-491-6876 x 101 or at info@revivekc.com and a staff member will assist you.
If a session is missed or canceled with less than 24-hours notice, there will be a full session fee charged. We ask that you cancel your appointment by contacting your counselor directly at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. We do understand that circumstances may arise that are out of your control such as illness or emergency situations, and our counselors can extend grace in these situations. For more details about how your counselor handles missed appointments and late cancellations, please speak with him or her directly.
